Job Summary
The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (IfL) in Leipzig is seeking an IT Administrator to join their three-person IT team. In this role, you will take full responsibility for the client infrastructure, including the management and automation of a Windows Active Directory environment. Your daily tasks will involve overseeing conference systems, VPNs, and file storage, while also driving the modernization of client lifecycle management through automated rollouts and GPOs. A significant portion of the role focuses on IT security, including firewall management, 2FA implementation, and client hardening. You will also manage private cloud solutions and create comprehensive technical documentation and AI-supported user manuals. Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in managing complex IT documentation and structured data sets
- Proven experience with MS Active Directory, Server services, and Client Management tools
- Experience in private cloud environments and data backup solutions
- Experience in IT security, specifically regarding client and browser hardening
- Experience with GPO, lifecycle management, and automated software rollouts
- Experience in conceptual planning and strategic IT management
Languages
Additional
- Knowledge of BSI and GDPR standards is required. Experience with macOS integration into Windows AD and interview techniques for process documentation is advantageous. Must be eligible for public service employment under TV-L regulations.
