Job Summary
As a Materials Laboratory Technician in the automotive industry, you will be responsible for the independent execution of material testing according to technical drawings and inspection plans. Your daily routine involves conducting hardness tests, metallographic examinations, and structural assessments to ensure production quality. You will utilize advanced procedures such as spectral analysis, residual dirt analysis, and magnetic induction crack testing on forged and finished components. Beyond testing, you will support quality assurance measures, monitor QM standards like IATF 16949, and assist in damage analysis for reclaimed parts. This role is essential for ensuring that chemical and physical material properties align with specifications throughout the entire manufacturing cycle. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Materials Tester, Metallographer, Physics Laboratory Assistant, Chemical Laboratory Assistant, or Industrial/Mechatronics Technician with relevant further training. Ideally a further qualification as a Technician in Materials Technology, Metal Technology, or Physics.
Experience
- Professional experience in material testing and metallographic examination
- Experience in creating and applying measurement and inspection programs
- Experience in quality assurance within a production environment
- Experience in hardness depth determination and structural evaluation
- Experience with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949)
