Job Summary

The Institute for Sensor and Actuator Technology (ISAT) at Coburg University is seeking a Laboratory Engineer to join the 'KonUsT' research project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The successful candidate will focus on the development of continuous ultrasonic sensors for level monitoring. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting practical research and development in ultrasonic sensing, performing feasibility studies, and creating sensor prototypes. You will also be responsible for data collection, analysis, and presenting results to industrial partners, while also mentoring undergraduate students. This part-time position (approx. 20 hours/week) offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of academia and industry, with the potential to pursue a doctorate. The role is ideal for individuals with a background in technical physics who enjoy independent problem-solving and want to contribute to cutting-edge sensor technology in a flexible, international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma or Bachelor) in Technical Physics or a closely related field. For foreign degrees, a ZAB certificate of equivalence is mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in technical physics or a related engineering field
  • Practical experience in the development and testing of ultrasonic sensors
  • Experience in conducting research, feasibility studies, and conceptualizing prototypes
  • Experience in data processing and presenting scientific results to external partners
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising undergraduate students is required
