Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Bavarian State Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BayLfV) in Munich, specifically within the department focused on Islamist and foreign-related extremism and terrorism. As a Data Scientist, you will develop and optimize data-centric approaches to monitor extremist activities, analyzing both structured and unstructured data to protect democratic values. You will work in multidisciplinary teams, providing expert advice and presenting reports to internal and external stakeholders. This position is unique as it offers a transition from a salaried public service contract to a permanent civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis) with a dedicated security allowance. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field such as 'Data Science & Intelligent Analytics'.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), preferably within federal or state security agencies
  • At least 2 years of experience in the application of Artificial Intelligence, preferably in a security agency context
  • Proven experience in programming with Python or R
  • Professional experience working with databases and SQL
  • Experience handling social networks and instant messaging platforms
