Job Summary

This role involves leading and conducting field trials within the horticulture department at the Queckbrunnerhof experimental farm in Schifferstadt. As a Research Engineer, you will be responsible for the independent execution of vegetable production trials focusing on plant cultivation, including fertilization, irrigation, and variety testing. Your daily work will involve monitoring plant growth (scoring), analyzing experimental data using statistical software, and documenting results for reporting and communication. A key part of this position is driving innovation through the digitalization of trial methods, such as the use of drones and AI technology. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (B.Sc. or Dipl.-Ing. FH) in Horticulture, Vegetable Production, or a related agricultural field such as Agricultural Biology.

Experience

  • Comprehensive professional knowledge and practical experience in the field of vegetable production
  • Experience in the independent execution, evaluation, and documentation of agricultural trials
  • Proficiency in using specialized statistical software for data analysis
  • Experience with trial-related technology and equipment
  • Experience or strong interest in digital agricultural tools like drones and AI

  • Valid certificate of competence in plant protection (Sachkundenachweis Pflanzenschutz) is required. Must possess a valid Class B driver's license. Readiness for occasional weekend shifts as part of a team rotation is necessary.
