Job Summary
This role involves overseeing critical environmental and safety compliance at the Herzberg am Harz facility for Smurfit Westrock, a global leader in paper-based packaging. As the Environmental and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for water protection, chemical management, and radiation safety. Day-to-day activities include monitoring legal compliance for water protection, conducting wastewater sampling, managing hazardous substances, and creating safety data sheets. You will also play a pivotal role in maintaining environmental management systems such as ISO 14001 and EMAS, conducting internal audits, and training employees on chemical safety. Required Skills
Education
University degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Process Engineering, or a comparable field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in environmental management, chemical safety, or related industrial fields
- Experience in monitoring and documenting legal compliance regarding water protection and chemical usage
- Practical experience with environmental management systems such as ISO 14001 or EMAS
- Experience in conducting internal audits and supporting external certifications
- Experience in conducting employee safety training and briefings
