Job Summary

This full-time research position at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg involves working on a DFG-funded project focused on the semi-automatic collation of multi-language text versions. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for integrating alignment algorithms into digital editions, specifically supporting the Hannah Arendt Critical Complete Edition. You will utilize and expand the LERA system, implementing methods for re-segmentation and comparison of text variants in different languages. The role is highly interdisciplinary, requiring close collaboration with humanities scholars to demonstrate how developed technologies apply to computer-aided literary studies. This is an excellent opportunity for a computer scientist interested in Digital Humanities to contribute to high-profile academic projects and present findings at international conferences. The position is fixed-term until March 2027 and offers the possibility for further academic qualification (PhD or similar).

Required Skills

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development, particularly in web applications
