Job Summary
As an IT Systems Technician for the central IT operations of Lower Saxony, you will play a vital role in maintaining the state's digital infrastructure. Depending on your specialization, you will either work within the Infrastructure, Server, and Storage department—managing x86-based virtual and physical server instances, backup systems, and recovery software—or within the Infrastructure Services department, focusing on IT security components, Active Directory environments (Multi-Forest/Multi-Tier), DNS, and Public Key Infrastructure. This role is essential for ensuring that public administration remains digital and accessible to citizens. You will join a large, collaborative team of over 230 colleagues operating in a 24/7 environment. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science or a closely related IT field; alternatively, at least four years of relevant professional IT experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT systems administration or technical support
- At least 4 years of professional IT experience if no university degree is held
- Experience in server and storage management or IT infrastructure services
- Experience with Active Directory and network security components is preferred for specific departments

- Must be able to pass a security clearance check according to the Security Check Act (SÜG). Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays, is required. Available locations include Hannover, Braunschweig, Lüneburg, Oldenburg, Nienburg, Bremervörde, Osnabrück, Göttingen, Hildesheim, or Emden.
