Job Summary

This high-level leadership role involves directing Department V of the German Environment Agency (UBA), overseeing approximately 476 employees across 31 specialized units in Dessau-Roßlau and Berlin. As a member of the agency's executive management, you will lead the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) and shape interdisciplinary research in climate protection and energy transition. The day-to-day responsibilities include providing scientific policy advice to federal ministries (BMUKN, BMWK, and the Foreign Office), managing complex regulatory processes like EU emissions trading and CBAM, and representing German environmental interests in national and international committees. This position is unique for its significant influence on European climate policy and its role at the intersection of science, law, and administration.
