Job Summary
This role offers the opportunity to join an agile, green energy startup in Cologne that is now part of the Hausheld Group. As an AI & ML Engineer, you will be at the forefront of the energy transition, developing AI-driven software to help businesses and households reduce their carbon footprint. Your daily responsibilities will involve integrating modern LLM architectures, designing RAG systems using vector databases, and building autonomous AI agents for end-user support and system integration. You will also lead technical assessments for Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) and collaborate closely with the C-suite and product teams to define high-value AI features. This position is ideal for those who want to combine deep technical expertise in machine learning with a mission-driven focus on sustainability. The role is unique for its 'GreenDay' initiative, allowing you one day a month to work on personal projects, alongside flexible remote work options and a flat startup hierarchy.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- At least 3 years of practical experience in implementing productive AI projects
- Proven experience with Large Language Models including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and RAG
- Professional experience with embeddings and vector databases
- Experience in API integration and backend development
- Experience making architectural decisions regarding scaling, cost optimization, and security
- Experience in evaluating and monitoring AI systems
