Job Summary

This full-time role involves managing major hydraulic engineering and flood protection projects for the Free State of Thuringia. As a Project Engineer, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of water management initiatives, from conceptual design to final construction. Key responsibilities include leading the 'Reactivation of Retention Areas in the Unstrutaue' project, managing dyke relocations, and ensuring the structural integrity of existing water systems. You will also provide expert technical statements for regulatory procedures and collaborate in interdisciplinary working groups. The position offers significant flexibility with options to work from Jena, Weimar, or Sondershausen, and includes up to three days of remote work per week. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Fachhochschule or University) in an engineering field, preferably Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Management or Hydraulic Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in hydraulic engineering, flood protection, or water permeability projects
  • Proven experience in project management and project control
  • Experience in developing technical concepts and methods for water management
  • Professional experience in committee work and interdisciplinary coordination

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Valid driver's license (Class B) and willingness to drive service vehicles is required. Non-native speakers must provide proof of German C1 level. Foreign degrees must be accompanied by a statement of comparability from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).
