Job Summary
This role involves serving as a specialized expert for the DAVVL e. V., Germany's leading body for biological aviation safety. As a Research Associate, you will take professional responsibility for creating ornithological reports to assess birdlife in the vicinity of commercial airports. Your day-to-day activities will include managing projects related to Wildlife Hazard Management, participating in national and international training programs, and supporting research and development initiatives. You will also deliver lectures and training sessions on a global scale. This position is unique because it combines high-level ecological expertise with aviation safety, offering the chance to influence technical standards and safety protocols. Working in a highly specialized interdisciplinary team in Bremen, you will enjoy flexible working hours and a permanent contract in a field that bridges environmental science and aviation technology.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (University or University of Applied Sciences) in Biology, Agriculture/Forestry, Landscape Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable field.
Experience
- Professional experience in landscape ecology
- Experience in creating ornithological expert reports and assessments
- Experience in training, lecturing, or educational program participation
- Preferred experience in environmental permit procedures or impact assessments
- Experience in applied research is desirable
Languages
Additional
- Valid Class B driver's license required; willingness to travel for national and international assignments; hunting license (Jagdschein) is desirable; affinity for aviation and knowledge of aviation law is an advantage.
