Job Summary
This role involves providing technical expertise and forensic support for criminal investigations within the police department. As an IT Forensic Investigation Consultant, you will be responsible for the legally sound recovery, preservation, and analysis of data from various digital devices, including laptops and mobile phones. You will evaluate technical possibilities for data extraction, prepare hardware for evidence collection, and utilize specialized software to filter and search through digital evidence. A significant portion of the role involves drafting comprehensive technical reports for criminal investigation units and advising investigators on the feasibility and legal scope of technical measures. This position is unique as it offers a high degree of social impact by supporting law enforcement, combined with the stability of the German public service (TV-L). Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in Computer Science, with a focus on Practical, Applied, or Technical Computer Science; OR a qualification as a State-Certified Technician in Electrical Engineering (specializing in Data Processing, Network Technology, or ICT).
Experience
- Professional experience in digital data recovery and forensic processing of end-user devices
- Experience in the use of specialized forensic evaluation software and data filtering tools
- Experience in technical consulting and coordination between IT departments and investigative units
- Experience in handling hardware preparation and software-based data analysis
- Experience in drafting technical documentation and investigative reports

- Valid Class B driver's license (or equivalent assisted driving service) is required. Must be able to pass security background checks inherent to police service roles. Position is based in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis district.
