Job Summary

This is a high-level leadership position at the State Office for Mining, Geology and Raw Materials (LBGR) in Cottbus, Germany. As the Head of Department 3, 'Mining,' you will oversee critical operations including abandoned mining hazards, surveying, and operational planning for lignite and remediation mining. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve ensuring smooth departmental workflows, managing organizational transformation and digitalization processes, and providing expert advice to agency leadership. You will represent the department in high-stakes negotiations and collaborate with various decision-making bodies. This role is unique for its long-term impact, as it oversees the remediation of mining landscapes projected to continue into the 22nd century. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma or Master's) in Law, Engineering, Administrative Sciences, or Economics; OR qualification for the higher technical/administrative service (Laufbahnbefähigung zum höheren Dienst).

Experience

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a leadership position with responsibility for at least 10 employees
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in leading diverse application and permit/approval procedures
  • Extensive experience in public administration or technical mining services
  • Proven track record in negotiation and stakeholder management
  • Experience in managing organizational change and digitalization
