Job Summary
As a Web Developer at the European Science Communication Institute (ESCI) in Oldenburg, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of web projects for over 25 international research initiatives. Your daily tasks include translating layouts and designs into functional, responsive websites, as well as customizing and extending Content Management Systems. You will ensure the technical integrity of project websites through regular updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting, while optimizing for performance, security, and user experience. This role is particularly attractive for those looking to work in a non-profit, scientific context with a multinational team. The position offers a permanent contract with flexible working hours (60-100%) and the opportunity for partial home-office work, providing a stable yet modern working environment within a collegial atmosphere.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training or a university degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Media Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in developing and maintaining responsive websites and web projects
- Experience in implementing layouts and designs into functional web solutions
- Practical experience with Content Management Systems, specifically WordPress
- Experience in server-side programming and database management
- Experience with version control systems like Git is preferred
