Job Summary
This role involves supporting the Saxon State Ministry of Justice (SMJus) in Department IV, specifically within the unit responsible for personnel, organizational matters, and supervision of correctional facilities. As a Project Management Officer, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing project plans for initiatives within the Saxon correctional system. Your daily tasks will include managing the project lifecycle by collecting key performance indicators, defining goals, performing target/actual analyses, and deriving necessary measures. Additionally, you will handle conceptual work, organizational tasks, and statistical reporting. This position is unique as it offers a meaningful public service role within the justice system, providing flexible working conditions, including mobile work options and flexitime, while contributing to the modernization of administrative processes in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Business Administration, Public Management, or Administrative Sciences with a focus on Organizational Development; or completed career training for the first entry level of career group 2 (formerly higher service) in correctional, general administrative, or judicial services.
Experience
- Professional experience in project and process management is preferred
- Experience in cross-functional and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Experience in creating project plans and conducting target/actual comparisons
- Experience in administrative or public sector organizational development

- The position is a fixed-term secondment until May 31, 2027. Applicants must have a valid work permit for Germany. Foreign degrees require recognition by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). Candidates already employed by the Free State of Saxony must provide consent for personnel file inspection.
