Job Summary

This role involves the independent organization and management of greenhouse and laboratory operations within the Department of Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding at the University of Göttingen. As a Biological Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for the comprehensive supervision of greenhouse and climate chamber experiments, including precision phenotyping. Your daily tasks will include performing molecular analyses such as DNA/RNA extraction, genotyping, and gene expression analysis. Additionally, you will manage the department's IT infrastructure, including hardware and software procurement and website maintenance. This position is unique for its blend of biological research support and technical IT coordination within a prestigious academic setting. It offers a permanent contract and the opportunity to work autonomously while supporting a collaborative scientific team.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory and greenhouse environments
  • Proven experience in molecular analysis methods including DNA/RNA extraction and amplicon sequencing
  • Experience in the establishment and supervision of greenhouse experiments
  • Experience in IT administration and computer maintenance
  • Experience with data recording and analysis using computer software
