Job Summary

As an IT Security Engineer at Ruhrbahn GmbH, the largest public transport provider in the Ruhr area, you will play a critical role in securing the IT infrastructure of essential public services. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve the configuration, administration, and monitoring of firewall and VPN solutions, alongside ensuring high system availability and network design. You will act as a technical consultant for IT security projects, evaluate security logs, and support network administration. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical management of security systems and strategic development of the security landscape. Required Skills

Education

Degree in Computer Science, or completed IT technical vocational training combined with further qualification as a State-Certified Technician in Computer Science, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in the field of IT security systems, specifically focusing on firewalls, networks, and VPNs
  • Experience in the configuration, administration, and monitoring of IDR systems
  • Professional experience in network design and general network administration
  • Experience in basic administration of both Microsoft and Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience in project support related to IT security and network topics

Additional

  • Class B driver's license required. Participation in on-call duty (Rufbereitschaft) is mandatory. Preferred certifications include CheckPoint Certified Security Admin (CCSA) or F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA).
