Job Summary

As an Electrical Systems Engineer or Design Engineer at NVL, you will join the Electronics and Weapon Systems Construction department, focusing on either Electrical Engineering (automation, propulsion, lighting) or System Integration (navigation, sensors, combat management). Your daily responsibilities include the constructive design, integration, and testing of assigned systems and assemblies. You will act as a technical lead in drafting specifications, negotiating with suppliers, and evaluating bids while maintaining a balance between quality and cost-efficiency. This role is highly collaborative, requiring close coordination with internal departments, subcontractors, and authorities to ensure contract-compliant integration. You will also oversee commissioning and acceptance tests on-site or aboard vessels. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications/Information Technology, Naval Architecture, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field; alternatively, a qualification as a certified Technician.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the shipbuilding industry or maritime sector, preferably with the German Navy
  • Experience in the design, integration, and testing of electrical or electronic systems
  • Experience in technical negotiation and supplier evaluation
  • Experience working with marine construction regulations and standards
