Job Summary
This is a leadership role within a dual-management team for STEP e. V., a social-pedagogical youth welfare organization. You will be responsible for the strategic and operational steering of the association, focusing heavily on financial management, accounting, and human resources. Day-to-day tasks include preparing annual financial statements, negotiating remuneration with public funding bodies, and overseeing budget planning and controlling. The role is unique due to the organization's structure as an employee-led association, where all 60 staff members are voting members, fostering a highly participatory and flat-hierarchy environment. You will work closely with the management board and administrative teams to ensure the economic stability and future development of social projects like therapeutic residential groups and family assistance. This position offers significant creative freedom, a value-based culture, and the chance to balance economic necessity with social impact.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Business Administration, Social Management, Social Economy, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in accounting and controlling is required
- Leadership experience, preferably within the social or non-profit sector, is highly desirable
- Experience in human resources management and personnel administration is preferred
- Experience in negotiating remuneration under social legislation (SGB) is beneficial
- Proven track record in strategic and conceptual organizational development

- The position is based in Erlangen with a workload of 30-35 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to work within a participatory, employee-led organizational structure. Remote work options are available by arrangement.
