Job Summary

This role is part of the national research project 'PrioInt' at the North Rhine-Westphalia Police Service and Technology Authority. You will focus on developing solutions for integrating innovative technologies into existing telematics systems to prioritize emergency vehicles. Day-to-day, you will design and implement Car2X communication pilot scenarios, evaluate the transferability of technologies to other municipalities, and draft scientific documentation. You will also represent the police authority within the project consortium, ensuring that police requirements for Car2X and IoT technologies are integrated into European project work. This position is unique as it offers the chance to contribute directly to public safety and traffic efficiency using cutting-edge automotive technology. The role is fixed-term until September 2028 and offers a meaningful work environment with flexible mobile working options and a focus on work-life balance.

Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree or Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, a Bachelor's degree/FH Diploma in these fields with 3 years of professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in engineering, information technology, or natural sciences
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience required if holding a Bachelor's degree or FH Diploma
  • Experience in project work or collaboration with research institutions, authorities, or companies is preferred
  • Practical experience in IT security, network technology, data analysis, or software development is advantageous

Additional

  • Must be willing to undergo a security clearance (SÜ 1), which requires residency in Germany or an EU member state for at least the last five years. Willingness for occasional travel within Germany is required. This is a fixed-term position until September 30, 2028.
