Job Summary
This role is central to the future strategy of an international mechanical engineering company, focusing on the structured introduction and scaling of AI applications. As a Data Scientist and AI strategist, you will be responsible for building and implementing a company-wide AI strategy, identifying high-impact use cases across all departments, and leading interdisciplinary project teams from IT and R&D. Your day-to-day will involve coordinating AI pilot projects, managing rollout phases, and ensuring that all automation solutions comply with the EU AI Act and data protection standards. You will act as a bridge between technical development and management, fostering internal AI competencies through training while staying at the forefront of technological trends like LLMs and Computer Vision.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.
Experience
- Professional experience in digitalization, data, or artificial intelligence
- Experience in project management for complex, cross-departmental projects
- Proven track record in steering interdisciplinary teams from IT and R&D
- Experience in identifying and prioritizing business-relevant AI use cases
- Practical knowledge of modern AI/ML concepts and automation tools

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as the EU AI Act and data protection is required. The position is based in Hall in Tirol, Austria, and follows the collective agreement for the metal trade.
