Job Summary

As an Internal Auditor at the Ruhrverband in Essen, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of one of Germany's major water management organizations. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve planning and executing risk-oriented audits across diverse departments including Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, and specialized technical operations like fixed asset investments. You will evaluate internal control systems, identify areas for improvement, and draft comprehensive audit reports with actionable recommendations. Beyond compliance, you will act as a consultant to various business units on economic efficiency and regulatory adherence. This position is particularly attractive due to its stable public-sector framework, offering a 39-hour work week with 32 days of vacation, a company pension, and flexible working hours. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Business Administration, Administrative Science, Business Law, Business Informatics, or a comparable field. Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or DIIR-Revisor are preferred.

Experience

  • Professional experience in internal auditing, public accounting, or a comparable function
  • Experience with data analysis tools and audit software such as IDEA or TeamMate
  • Practical knowledge of risk-oriented audit planning and reporting
  • Experience working with ERP systems, specifically SAP
  • Background in public budget and subsidy law is highly desirable
