Job Summary
This role involves conducting legal metrology inspections and verification activities primarily in the field at customer sites across Lower Saxony. As a technical specialist for the Weights and Measures Office, you will be responsible for testing and calibrating various measuring instruments and monitoring pre-packaged goods to ensure consumer protection and fair trade. On a day-to-day basis, you will handle technical equipment, initiate administrative offense proceedings when necessary, and communicate complex legal and technical requirements to device users. The position is unique for offering a high degree of job security within the public sector, a comprehensive training program including specialized schooling in Bavaria, and the potential for civil servant status (Verbeamtung) following successful practical experience. Required Skills
Education
State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfte/r Techniker/in) or Master Craftsperson (Meister/in) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Technology, or a related field.
Experience
- Professional qualification as a State-Certified Technician or Master Craftsperson in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience in handling various types of measuring instruments is advantageous
- Experience in field service or customer-facing technical roles
- Experience in explaining technical or legal contexts to third parties

Additional
- Valid Class B driver's license required. Physical fitness for transporting weights and working in confined or awkward positions. Willingness to travel within Lower Saxony for field service and attend multi-month training in Bad Reichenhall (Bavaria) in late 2026.
