Job Summary
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences is seeking an engaged Laboratory Engineer to deliver practical, hands-on instruction in mechatronics and manufacturing metrology. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for teaching and supervising demanding laboratory exercises in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics programs, focusing on Industry 4.0 competencies, including the design, setup, and commissioning of mechatronic systems using sensors, actuators, robotics, and microcontrollers. A key part of the role involves programming engineering solutions in C/C++ and Python, and managing the Manufacturing Metrology lab, ensuring smooth operation and supporting students in modern measurement and testing procedures. Candidates must have a university degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering), professional experience in design and product development, and strong proficiency in German and good English skills. Teaching experience and didactic skills are highly desirable for this permanent position.
