Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking an IT Specialist / IT Site Administrator to support the Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology (HI-TRON) in Mainz. This role is crucial for establishing and expanding the IT infrastructure at the Mainz site, working closely with the central IT department in Heidelberg. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up IT processes, implementing modern solutions, and providing comprehensive system administration, including first and second-level support for Windows, MacOS, and Linux environments. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer research by optimizing IT systems and data structures in an agile scientific environment, requiring a proactive approach and strong communication skills.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or comparable training (e.g., IT specialist), or equivalent professional experience and knowledge.

Experience

  • Practical experience with current IT technologies
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux desktop and server operating systems
  • Professional experience in IT administration and support

Additional

  • Travel readiness to Heidelberg for training and familiarization with research administration and IT Core Facility. Compliance with the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG) requiring proof of measles immunity.
