Job Summary

This role seeks an accomplished professional to join the Faculty of Applied Computer Science at Deggendorf Technical University as a Professor (W2) specializing in Cybersecurity Management and Digital Resilience. The core focus involves teaching courses covering fundamental information security, network security, IT security management, system auditing, and the security of interactive systems. The professor will also be responsible for developing and supervising elective modules focused on digital resilience, crisis management, digital forensics, and legal aspects of IT security. Key responsibilities include supervising student theses (Bachelor's and Master's), establishing and maintaining research activities, and fostering practical cooperation with industry partners. Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field, demonstrable expertise in IT security practice, and strong didactic and communication skills to effectively convey complex, practical content to students in both German and English.

Education

Completed university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Information Security, or a related field; Doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent proof of exceptional scientific work; Pedagogical aptitude

Experience

  • At least five years of professional practice applying or developing scientific knowledge and methods after completing the university degree
  • At least three years of professional practice acquired outside the higher education sector (or equivalent cooperation experience)
  • Demonstrable expertise in IT security management, digital resilience, network security, or related areas
  • Desirable: Several years of professional experience in IT security practice, preferably in a leadership or responsible position
