Job Summary

The Federal Office for Family Affairs and Civil Society Functions (BAFzA) is seeking several experienced Java Software Developers to join its IT Development department. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing existing and new web applications using Java. Key day-to-day tasks include designing and working with SQL databases and acting as a technical contact person within the IT group. The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field, or extensive professional experience in software development. Critical technical requirements include at least five years of professional Java programming experience, familiarity with JSF frameworks (Angular.JS/PrimeFaces), Spring Framework, and experience with Microservices, REST interfaces, and agile methodologies like Test Driven Development. This position is initially fixed-term until the end of 2028 with the intention of permanent employment, offering a competitive salary up to pay grade 11 (TVöD Bund) plus a potential IT specialist allowance up to €1,000 gross monthly.

Experience

  • At least five years of professional experience applying Java programming skills
  • Professional experience in software development in a professional environment
  • Experience with JSF frameworks (Angular.JS and/or PrimeFaces)
  • Experience with the Spring framework
  • Experience in the development and design of Micro- and Webservices with REST interfaces
  • Experience with version management, build processes/Continuous Integration, and common software development systems (Jira, Git, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, Kubernetes or similar)
