Job Summary

This role involves strategic responsibility for the system design and continuous development of the operational railway telecommunications platform, FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System), specifically focusing on the 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) within DB InfraGO AG. Key daily tasks include defining the system architecture, evaluating technologies (3GPP, ETSI, UIC standards), ensuring performance, availability, and IT security, and defining the required IP connectivity and Fronthaul integration. The specialist is responsible for strategic planning of technologies, topology, capacity, and functionalities based on customer requirements, ensuring alignment with the overall telecommunications strategy. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Engineering or IT, possesses profound knowledge of mobile telecommunications, and demonstrates strong analytical and cooperative skills to represent design specifications internally and externally. The position offers the chance to contribute significantly to the modernization of Germany's rail infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

University or Technical College degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology), Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in telecommunications, especially mobile radio
  • Ability to define 5G RAN architecture and connection design
  • Comprehensive technical understanding of deployed technologies
  • Long-term professional experience in the required field (as an alternative to a degree)
