Job Summary

This role involves maintaining, monitoring, and developing the Logic Mill platform, a scalable, open-access system utilizing Machine Learning models to identify semantically similar scientific publications and patents. The successful candidate will be responsible for system maintenance, including a multi-node Linux environment and a large Elasticsearch database. Key tasks include monitoring and developing data pipelines built in Go and Python, and maintaining/developing the server software (GraphQL, REST API) and the Vue.js/Tailwind website interface. The position requires a background in Computer Science and 1–3 years of experience in modern software and infrastructure development, particularly with Linux administration, data pipelines, and potentially AI technologies like LLMs and RAG. This is a full-time, fixed-term position within a prestigious research institute in Munich, supporting global academic research with the primary working language being English.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

Experience

  • 1–3 years in modern software and infrastructure development
  • Experience in Linux system administration, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure
  • Experience programming in Python, Go, HTML, and/or JavaScript
  • Experience working with Elasticsearch/Kibana, GraphQL, relational databases (SQL), and building data pipelines
  • Experience designing, developing, and documenting APIs and integrating them into frontend applications
  • Experience with AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), agent-based systems, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Practical experience in training and optimizing neural networks on high-performance (GPU-enabled) computer systems
