Job Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering or physics student to gain hands-on experience supporting research and development within a leading global scientific instrument company in Bremen. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers and scientists on product development projects, focusing on high-end measurement and analysis instruments like mass spectrometers. Day-to-day tasks involve assisting engineers with laboratory experiments, building and testing prototypes (including electronics, mechanics, and ion optics), and handling specialized vacuum equipment such as fore vacuum and turbo molecular pumps. A key part of the role involves conducting data evaluation and analysis using programming languages, requiring a hands-on approach and enthusiasm for sophisticated technology. This fixed-term, 12-month position offers valuable exposure to a multi-disciplinary, international R&D environment.
Required Skills
Education
Student in engineering, physics, or related science, or equivalent education
Experience
- Experience in writing programs for instrument control applications and data analysis using Python or other programming language
- Hands-on experience with precision mechanics and sophisticated electronics

- Fixed-term contract for 12 months; Must be able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance; Willingness to work in a laboratory setting with hazardous/toxic materials and required PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
