Job Summary

This role invites a skilled (Senior) Gardener Core Engineer to shape the future of cloud-native infrastructure at SAP and across Europe, contributing to the open-source Gardener project—a critical Kubernetes management solution powering SAP’s global landscape. Day-to-day responsibilities include leveraging Kubernetes and Go expertise to develop and maintain Gardener’s core components, ensuring smooth deployment and operational procedures for thousands of Kubernetes clusters across various cloud environments. The engineer will explore new deployment fields, such as edge or bare-metal setups, and contribute to Kubernetes controller code, technical concept definition, and code reviews, with the potential to become a Gardener maintainer. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on software engineering experience, deep understanding of Kubernetes concepts (CRDs, operators), and a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions that are strategically important for Europe's digital sovereignty.
