Job Summary

This role is for a Certified Technician to contribute to the operation and maintenance of neutral particle injection (NPI) systems, which are critical for plasma heating in fusion experiments like ITER and ASDEX Upgrade. The technician will be hands-on, focusing on the assembly, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical components for experimental facilities, including vacuum-compatible mounting of parts for ion sources and extraction systems. Key responsibilities also include supporting the setup of measurement and data acquisition components, swiftly resolving faults, and assisting with ion source and NBI system experiments. Candidates must have a relevant technical certification (e.g., Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics), possess at least two years of professional experience, and demonstrate strong teamwork and independent work skills. Knowledge of vacuum technology, mechanical processing, and electrical/control engineering is highly advantageous.

Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) in Physical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent field.

Experience

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in the setup, commissioning, and maintenance of experimental facilities
