Job Summary

This role involves ensuring the technical integrity and accurate implementation of complex communication and operational systems on marine vessels. The technician will be responsible for reviewing technical documents, including drawings, manuals, and interface specifications, to develop a comprehensive understanding of shipboard systems. A key part of the job includes utilizing 3D ship models to verify the placement of components, cables, pipes, and lines, preparing for subsequent on-site verification tours. Day-to-day tasks involve creating detailed system overviews and operational plans for various ship systems, including switchgear, communication, and navigation technology. The role requires conducting physical inspections onboard to compare initial plans with the actual installation status, documenting discrepancies, and acting as a crucial communicative interface by actively gathering necessary information from suppliers. Ideal candidates possess a technical background in electrical engineering or IT, excellent technical comprehension, and experience with large-scale technical systems, preferably in naval shipbuilding.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical vocational training, ideally in Electrical Engineering or IT, preferably with further training as a Certified Technician (Techniker)

Experience

  • Experience in naval shipbuilding is desirable
  • Alternatively, experience with large technical systems (e.g., aviation, plant construction, or automation technology)
