Job Summary

The Justus Liebig University Giessen is seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant to join the Institute for Food Chemistry and Biotechnology on a permanent, part-time (50%) basis. This role is crucial for supporting academic and research activities, primarily focusing on laboratory organization and analytical procedures. Day-to-day tasks include preparing nutrient media, cultivating Basidiomycetes, and independently preparing practical sessions for B.Sc./M.Sc. Food Chemistry and M.Sc. Insect Biotechnology programs, requiring communication in both German and English. Key responsibilities also involve conducting photometric and titrimetric enzyme assays, sample preparation for instrumental analysis, and performing GC and HPLC analyses. The ideal candidate must have completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician, possess extensive experience in sterile microbiological techniques, chemical analysis (photometry, chromatography), and demonstrate a high degree of independence, responsibility, and organizational talent to manage laboratory supplies, maintenance, and chemical disposal.
