Job Summary
The Museum and Facilities Technician will be responsible for the continuous operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the complex building technology systems at the Freies Deutsches Hochstift / Frankfurter Goethe-Museum. Daily tasks include independently performing minor repairs, overseeing external maintenance work on all technical installations (such as HVAC, electrical, and sanitary systems), monitoring energy consumption, and implementing reduction measures to improve efficiency. A key component of the role involves managing museum-specific security technology, including fire and intrusion alarm systems. Furthermore, the technician assists with general caretaker duties and supports the professional setup and dismantling of temporary exhibitions and events. Candidates must possess a completed technical apprenticeship, ideally in electrical engineering or building services, and should demonstrate systematic, problem-solving skills, and the willingness to participate in an alternating on-call rotation. This position offers a varied and communicative role within a major cultural institution.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training in Electrical Engineering, Electronics for Energy and Building Technology, HVAC/Plumbing/Sanitary Technology, or comparable qualification.
Experience
- Completed vocational training in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, HVAC)
- Initial professional experience in building technology (advantageous)
- Experience performing maintenance and repair work
