IT Specialist / Computer Scientist (High-Performance Computing Support) | Informatiker (m/w/d)

Job Summary
This role is based in the Computing Center of the University of Hildesheim, focusing on establishing and managing the university's participation in the 'Lower Saxony Digital Science Support Space (DS3)' network. The specialist will act as the central point of contact, supporting researchers with High-Performance Computing (HPC), data-driven research methods, and Research Software Engineering. Key responsibilities include analyzing existing structures, capturing internal university needs, and communicating these requirements to the DS3 network. The position involves conceptualizing and implementing strategies for utilizing HPC offers, providing technical consulting to researchers on HPC infrastructures and AI tools (such as LLMs), and developing documentation and training materials. This is an attractive opportunity for an experienced IT professional with a background in HPC or AI who thrives in a self-directed, project-coordinating, and academic environment.
Required Skills
Education
Completed scientific university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable IT-related field of study
Experience
- Professional experience in project coordination within a university environment
- Professional experience in Research Software Engineering
- Professional experience in High-Performance Computing, AI, or data-driven methods (in at least two of these areas)
