Job Summary
The University Hospital Gießen and Marburg (UKGM) is seeking a dedicated Specialist Microbiologist to lead its microbiological laboratory in Marburg. This role involves the comprehensive organization and continuous development of the lab, focusing on optimizing pre-analytics, laboratory, and logistics processes, and ensuring robust quality management. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with hospital hygiene, contribute to microbiological teaching, and participate in applied research projects, with an option for Habilitation. This position offers a stimulating and diverse work environment within university medicine, featuring a broad spectrum of diagnostic methods and challenging clinical cases, supported by a committed and collegial team. Participation in weekend, holiday, and on-call duties is required, with an optional involvement in Antibiotic Stewardship.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in Natural Sciences (Master) or Pharmacy (State Examination) with a doctorate; Completed specialist training as a Specialist Microbiologist (BÄMI, DGHM or equivalent qualification)
Experience
- Several years of professional experience as a Specialist Microbiologist (preferred)

- Profound knowledge in Change Management
