Job Summary
This role involves acting as a Scientific Consultant focusing on marine conservation efforts in the North and Baltic Seas for one of Europe's largest foundations, the German Federal Foundation for the Environment (DBU). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and shaping the foundation's funding topic related to marine protection, particularly at the intersection of land-sea interactions, emissions reduction (including from port facilities), and sustainable infrastructure development. Day-to-day tasks include independently preparing funding decisions, supervising approved projects, advising applicants from industry, science, and municipalities, and organizing networking events, workshops, and dialogue formats to facilitate knowledge transfer. Key qualifications include a scientific university degree (Master's level) in a relevant field such as Marine, Environmental, or Engineering Sciences, coupled with several years of practical professional experience and deep technical and ecological knowledge of the North and Baltic Sea maritime economic area. This position offers a challenging, varied, and permanent full-time role in Osnabrück.

Education
Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma) in a relevant field, such as Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering Sciences, or Water Management/Hydraulic Engineering
Experience
- Several years of practical professional experience in industry or corporate environments
- Fundamentally sound technical and ecological knowledge of the maritime economic area of the North and Baltic Seas
- Professional experience in developing and representing funding topics
