The core responsibilities involve conducting physical initial sample testing (first article inspection) for both internal and purchased components. Day-to-day tasks include meticulous metallographic sample preparation—involving cutting, grinding, polishing, and etching—followed by detailed microscopic evaluation and structural analysis, particularly of ferrous and cast materials. The technician will be responsible for documenting findings, coordinating supplementary mechanical-technological testing, and presenting clear, traceable results to internal stakeholders like Quality, Engineering, and Goods Receipt. A strong technical background, professional experience in metallography techniques, and knowledge of relevant material standards and quality guidelines are essential for success in this critical quality assurance function.
