PhD Position in Cellular Neurobiology | PhD-Stelle in der Zellulären Neurobiologie (m/w/d)
Constructor University Bremen gGmbH
Job Summary
This full-time, three-year PhD position at Constructor University in Bremen focuses on developing and characterizing human-relevant models for neurobiology using induced pluripotent stem cells to generate brain organoids. The successful candidate will analyze the electrophysiological activity of these organoids from male and female donors using Multi-Electrode Array (MEA) technology. The core objective is to quantify network metrics and correlate them with developmental trajectories, investigating how factors like sex hormones, environmental toxins, and genetic disorders influence early network formation, cell differentiation, maturation, and functional connectivity within the model system. This role requires a motivated scientist with a background in biology or neuroscience, practical lab experience (e.g., cell culture or molecular biology), and basic programming skills, offering an opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in an international, growing academic environment.
