Job Summary

This role involves specialized tax compliance and advisory work within the Finance Department of the Salzhausen Joint Municipality, focusing on VAT and Corporate Tax matters, particularly concerning the application of § 2b UStG (German VAT Act) and corporate tax law for the municipality and its subsidiaries (including water and sewage utilities). The officer will analyze complex tax issues, provide strategic advice to management, assess tax risks of projects and contracts, and communicate with the tax authorities. A crucial part of the job is the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Tax Compliance Management System (TCMS), including creating internal reporting and control mechanisms, documenting tax-relevant processes, and organizing internal training. This highly responsible position requires strong communication skills, deep technical expertise, and precision, offering flexible working hours and the opportunity to work in a public service environment.

Required Skills

Education

Administrative Specialist Course II/Administrative Business Economist (Verwaltungsfachwirt), or Certified Tax Specialist (Steuerfachwirt), or Diploma in Finance (Dipl.-Finanzwirt), or Bachelor of Laws – Tax Administration, or Bachelor of Arts – Administrative Business Administration, or Bachelor of Arts – Business Administration with a focus on Taxation

Experience

  • Professional experience in the stated area of responsibility is desirable
  • Relevant professional experience in tax compliance and advisory
