Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Scientific Group Leader focusing on advanced synchrotron radiation applications at the PETRA III and future PETRA IV facilities. The core responsibilities involve developing cutting-edge methods and instrumentation related to diffraction, scattering, and advanced imaging techniques, such as Bragg-CDI and tensor tomography. The Group Leader will manage and support diverse scientific user groups and industrial customers, ensuring successful project execution and operation of the facilities. Key qualifications include a PhD and Master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, or a related field, coupled with excellent knowledge in synchrotron radiation application and instrumentation development. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of scientific projects, publications, and proven experience in team leadership and international collaboration. Excellent written and oral English skills are mandatory, with German skills being beneficial for the role.
