Job Summary

The University of Greifswald is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate in Aquatic Microbiology to join the newly established DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre TRR 420 "CONCENTRATE." This part-time position, starting October 2025 and extending until June 2029, focuses on deciphering the molecular and microbial processes that stabilize glycans in the ocean. The role involves cultivating microalgae, isolating diatom silica and coccolithophore calcite scales, and analyzing glycan binding. You will also perform genetic engineering of diatoms and various microscopic investigations. This interdisciplinary role offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD within the research area, working closely with the Microbial Ecophysiology group at the University of Bremen and as part of a collaborative doctoral network. Ideal candidates will possess a Master's degree in a biological discipline and strong English language skills, coupled with a passion for teamwork and scientific curiosity.
