Job Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine curatorial management with essential veterinary practice within a zoological setting in Darmstadt. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive scientific and medical oversight of the animal collection, including performing preventative care, treatments, and surgical procedures, as well as managing the veterinary pharmacy. Day-to-day tasks involve supporting the planning of animal enclosures and stock, managing specialized animal records using ZIMS databases, and organizing animal transports. Beyond direct animal care, the Curator will engage in public relations, support critical association work (EAZA, VdZ, DWV), liaise with veterinary authorities, and actively participate in research projects and the development of zoo education and species conservation initiatives. This position requires a licensed veterinarian with a high degree of responsibility and flexibility, offering a secure, permanent public sector contract with competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Experience
- Professional experience in veterinary medicine (required for higher salary bracket)
