Job Summary

The General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping (GDWS) is seeking two motivated IT Graduates to join their team in Bonn or Mainz. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, from managing user workstations to administering physical and virtual servers. Key responsibilities include network and infrastructure administration, IT security implementation, and planning for system upgrades and procurement. This position is ideal for recent graduates in Computer Science who possess strong analytical skills, a systematic approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to IT service management. You will contribute to IT projects, provide user support, and play a vital role in maintaining robust IT infrastructure for a federal agency.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor/FH-Diploma) in Computer Science or comparable higher education with a focus on Computer Science. Candidates nearing completion of their studies (by end of 2025) are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

  • Professional experience with Microsoft Server operating systems (Windows Server)
  • Professional experience with central services (AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, SCCM)
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Client operating systems (Windows 10)
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Office products (2016 / 2024)
  • Professional experience in virtualization (HyperV and VM-Ware)
  • Professional experience with antivirus, storage, and backup systems
  • Experience in fault diagnosis and resolution for servers, clients, and networks
  • Experience in IT security according to BSI Basic Protection
  • Experience in IT projects
