Job Summary

This crucial role involves serving as a Civil/Structural Engineer and Project Manager responsible for the conservation, maintenance, and further development of the historic Schwerin Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and seat of the State Parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The professional will act as the official client representative, leading comprehensive building measures including major renovations, fire safety upgrades, and energy efficiency projects. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing planning, managing public tendering processes, ensuring strict adherence to budget and schedule, and coordinating extensively with users, parliamentary committees, and relevant authorities. This position requires a university degree in Civil Engineering, in-depth professional experience, and strong familiarity with German construction and procurement regulations (HOAI, VOB). Due to the high-profile nature of the site, excellent organizational skills and fluent German communication (C1 level) are mandatory. The role is offered on a fixed-term contract until the end of 2027.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Civil Engineering (Structural, Hydraulic, or Water Engineering specialization) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • In-depth professional experience in construction project management
  • Experience in managing building measures for maintenance and renovation
  • Experience with public procurement law and administrative regulations (Vergaberecht, HOAI, VOB)
  • Experience in acting as the official client representative for construction projects
