Job Summary

This role involves supporting the working group lead in critical research concerning mycotoxins and contaminants in cereals, oilseeds, legumes, and pseudo-cereals within the Max Rubner Institute, the federal research institution for nutrition and food in Germany. The scientist will be responsible for conducting official duties related to harvest and quality assessment, reporting and advising the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMLEH) on contaminants, and participating in national and international committees. Key tasks include applying instrumental trace analysis using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, leading laboratory personnel, initiating new research topics, and managing research projects. The ideal candidate possesses a Master's degree in analytical or food chemistry, strong practical experience in instrumental trace analysis, and excellent communication skills in both German and English, aiming for a scientific career path.

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science (M.Sc.) or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or similar field with a focus on chemical analysis. Doctorate/PhD (Desirable, demonstrating scientific aptitude).

Experience

  • Good practical experience in instrumental trace analysis with liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
  • Practical experience in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Good experience in scientific publishing
  • Experience in leading and guiding laboratory personnel
  • Professional experience in research administration and project management (Desirable)
