Job Summary
This role involves leading a distributed team of IT specialists within the ICT Infrastructure department of the THW (German Federal Agency for Technical Relief) in Bonn. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, operation, and ongoing development of real-time voice and video communication systems across Germany, covering both main and volunteer operations. Key responsibilities include technical and shared personnel leadership, strategic planning, process ownership, and ensuring the smooth operation of communication technology systems. The position requires a strong background in IT, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to collaborative work, especially with volunteers. Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Administrative Informatics, Business Informatics, or a comparable IT-related field. Alternatively, a completed vocational training with an IT focus combined with at least three years of professional experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in at least five of the specified technology areas (Telecommunication Systems, Routers, Access Points, SBC, Mobile/Fixed-line Telephony, Video Conferencing, Satellite Communication, Shortwave Data Radio, Government Networks)
- Experience in leading a team of IT professionals
- Experience in supporting selection processes for new IT specialists
- Experience in planning, conceptualizing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring IT tasks
- Experience in process responsibility within a specific area
- Experience in creating and evaluating risk analyses

Additional
- Willingness to cooperate closely with volunteers. Readiness for a security clearance (SÜ 2). Willingness for occasional, generally well-planned business trips. Readiness to work and be available outside of regular working hours if necessary (e.g., in case of emergency). Willingness to participate in the management and coordination staff (LuK). Willingness to wear service/duty clothing on certain occasions. Proof of equivalence for foreign educational qualifications is required.
