Job Summary

The Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) in Wiesbaden is seeking a Research Associate (Doctoral Candidate) to join the 'Family and Fertility' research division, specifically working on the FReDA (Family Demography Panel) survey infrastructure. This role involves contributing to the development of questionnaire instruments for FReDA and a planned children and youth survey, providing user service for FReDA data, and conducting advanced quantitative analyses of FReDA and GGS data. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research findings in national and international journals, aiming for a PhD in Economics, and present results at conferences. Additionally, the role includes supporting and advising federal ministries on relevant policy matters. This is a 70% part-time position, limited to 36 months, offering an excellent opportunity to pursue a doctorate within a prominent, interdisciplinary research center focused on the intersection of research, policy, and society.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or impending Master's degree) or equivalent qualification (e.g., Magister, Dipl.-Uni) in Economics or related fields

Experience

  • Knowledge of research in Population, Family, and/or Education Economics
  • Experience with quantitative empirical research methods and statistical programs like Stata or R
  • Interest in policy consulting

Additional

  • The employment contract is limited to 36 months (WissZeitVG). Must be able to present own research (e.g., Master's thesis) and research interests for a potential doctoral project during the interview.
